The Next Big Thing

Posted by:

I’ve been writing zombie stories for most of this year. Well, I’ve been writing zombie stories since 2009, but have only recently published them. I have one more in the series to write, and the currently finished book and the one to be written to release. I’ve enjoyed writing the zombie stories, and I appreciate all the positive feedback and encouragement that the series has received so far. It was my first adventure in writing and publishing at novel length, ...

February Report, 120 days later

Posted by:

It’s been four months since The Dying Times hit the scene, and about 23 days since The War of the Dead was released. I’m here to report on sales rankings, sales numbers, and so forth. People ask me about this all the time, and I promise, as always, to include some shiny graphs and stuff. I will include sales from all channels as of 02/25, and they shouldn’t change a huge amount until the end of the month.

The Dying Times

I’ll ...

Book Marketing and Promotion

Posted by:

I’ve been asked from time to time how to get a book out there and get it going, so I decided to make a post about it instead of telling everyone individually. I have a book marketing eBook on Amazon (for $0.99) and it’s on Smashwords (for free), so you can check it out if you want to learn some extra tips on marketing just to Amazon’s crowd. This is more of a general book marketing and promotion post to ...

Book #3 finished, going to editing

Posted by:

I’ve finished the writing part of Book #3, Prisoner and Survivor. This one details the experiences of a convicted murdered in the times of the living dead. I think fans of the series will be pleased in how it starts to tie everything together.

Time to edit and start working on the cover art. I have something special in mind for this cover, and then it’s the long, arduous process of editing and proofreading for me.

KindleProcessor, a tool from Late Nite Books

Posted by:

I have created the KindleProcessor, a tool for processing manuscripts into properly-formatted (in essence, cosmetically “pretty” and easier to read) versions.  Basically, you put in your quarter, upload the file, and it sends you a file that can be uploaded straight to Amazon’s Kindle Direct Publishing site for immediate distribution.

The project started as a simple automated macro for me to format my own Kindle eBooks, but I decided to share the tool with others who need it.  ...

On the Events in Egypt

Posted by:

I have taken a little time out from writing to observe the events going on in Cairo, Egypt, these past few days.  It would appear that the events have become more violent.  Hopefully, the violence will calm down, but I don’t see it happening.

As a member of a country that had a very violent revolution, I can only say that I hope that the transition from President Mubarak to a more democratic and free ...

The Dying Times has cleared 1000 sales

Posted by:

The Dying Times has cleared the 1000 sales mark in the first 3 months it has been out.  Sales on other titles add to the numbers and remain steady, as well.

It would only be proper to thank the readers who have made this possible.  Without them, my material wouldn’t be read and would remain in obscurity.  I appreciate all of the readers who have given me a chance so far, and I hope many more will give The Survivor Chronicles ...

Loss Leaders and Giveaways

Posted by:

What are loss leaders?  Can they help you?

In the self-publishing world (and in product sales in general), a loss leader is a product that you put out in front of people at a cheap price – sometimes at a loss to yourself, thus the term “loss” leader – which is meant to entice people into trying out the cheap one in favor of possibly purchasing the other products (in my case, books) that you publish later on.

This article discusses the ...

The Dying Times now for $0.99

Posted by:

You heard it right.  The Dying Times is now available for only 99 cents.  It’s the closest to a free sample of the series that I can drag myself kicking and screaming to accept.  I haven’t decided if I will leave it at that price forever or increase it again after The War of the Dead comes out.  Maybe it will depend on whether or not it sells well at this new price tag.  It has so far, but I’ll ...

Self-Publishing Book in the works?

Posted by:

I’ve started writing a few bits and pieces on a possible new book – a book about self-publishing.  It may become my first non-fiction piece.

Basically, it’s a book that shows you how to do the same thing that I do.  Well, I should say that it helps you publish your own book in print and distribute it.  I can’t really teach people how to write a good story.  That comes from somewhere deep inside.  I can, however, teach people how ...

Looking Towards the Future

Posted by:

As I have substantially passed the halfway mark in writing The Survivor Chronicles series, there is always forward looking to consider.  I can’t always write about zombies – well, I could, but I don’t want the stories to become stale or boring.  So, I have to consider what is next in store for your poor, fledgling writer.

I’ve been asked, but I can’t tell anyone the answer to the question, “Where will you go from here?”  It’s not because I am ...

Much has been said of my writing style

Posted by:

From several less-than-stellar reviews on Amazon, I can only gather that many people who are now reading The Dying Times are not checking out samples of the book prior to purchasing or not reading the samples available on Amazon.

At any rate, I want to say to anyone who might find this post:  please read the samples of anything you are considering buying, you’ll probably be happier with your purchases.  Now, onto the rest of the post.

I think that the chief ...

The War of the Dead Coming in February, 2011

Posted by:

The War of the Dead is coming out in the first week of February.  I am very excited about this second installment being released, and I hope the current fans of the series will enjoy it as much as – if not more than – the first book.  People have asked questions along the lines of “Why so fast?”, and all I can really say is that I don’t want to wait on each installment of the series to come ...
