The Omnibus Cometh

Posted by:

I am in the process of releasing an omnibus edition of The Survivor Chronicles released so far. It is the compilation of the first three books of the series in one eBook. That way, people who haven’t read the books yet have a chance to catch up before the last one is released around the end of September. It also comes with a slightly reduced price tag, making The Dying Times free when all three are purchased at the same ...

d10 Core Rolling Along

Posted by:

So I sat down yesterday and looked at my messy pile of d10 Core notes and chapters that I’d already written. I said, “This doesn’t even look appetizing to me, and I wrote the thing.” I decided to stare at a blank word processor page set to 8.5″ x 11″ until that special look came to me. About an hour later, I’d crafted the format I wanted for d10 Core.

I always had a problem with headers and how they looked ...

May 2011 Updates

Posted by:

Oh, I’ve been busy lately. Whew! I am presently working on five books, in no specific order:

#1 – Book 4 of The Survivor Chronicles to finish the series.
#2 – Book 1 of Songs of Sorbia, The Circle of Sorcerers, a new fantasy series.
#3 – Book 1 of a vampire book. I haven’t decided on the title yet.
#4 – Non-fiction self-publishing book (instructional)
#5 – The d10 Core Roleplaying Game System core rulebook. (along the lines of D&D, ...

Readers are Awesome

Posted by:

I just had several good reviews with great commentary, and I just wanted to say that I think readers are awesome. That’s all readers; you don’t have to exclusively read my stuff for the message to apply or anything like that. Books are such an interesting way for human beings to connect, and it’s unlike anything else. So, thank you, guys. I really appreciate it.

Prisoner and Survivor Released and Relaxing on the Midlist

Posted by:

Book #3 entitled Prisoner and Survivor is hitting Amazon and Barnes & Noble this week. The eBook version is already out, and I’m ready to relax for a few days before continuing the final book, A World Forsaken. So far, book 3 has sold about 80 copies since it’s been out. Very cool.

Sales have slowed, but I’m in the process of hunkering down on the ‘indie midlist’ for a while. Though it is subjective to say so, I’m a mid-lister ...

Giveaway Finished!

Posted by:

I’ve finished the giveaway, and everyone has their prizes. Congrats to Ann for winning the Kindle 3G! Congrats to the others who walked away with some cool Survival Chronicles books and eBooks! Congrats to everyone who won, and a big thanks for everyone who participated.

I was scared to host a giveaway of such a size and scale at first, but it really paid off. Most important of all, it felt good to give something back to the readers. I’ve started ...

Trucking along

Posted by:

I’m in between book releases right now. Prisoner and Survivor is undergoing the editing process, and it will probably continue through the beginning of April. I’m almost 30,000 words into The Circle of Sorcerers, and I’m feeling more and more confident about it as I go along. It’s very different from the zombie series I’ve written so far, taking on a bit more of a literary feel than the cinematic style of the Survivor Chronicles. So, some of my fans ...

Falling Off the Shelf

Posted by:

Due to some sort of Amazon glitch, The Dying Times has “fallen off” the virtual shelf at that retailer. I can only say that saying it has been a stressful time since this happened is an understatement.

I’ve been working with Amazon’s KDP service to get the title reinstated, but it’s not back yet. The paperback editions of both books are still available, and the Kindle version of the second book is still up. Hopefully, it will be resolved quickly and ...

The Next Big Thing

Posted by:

I’ve been writing zombie stories for most of this year. Well, I’ve been writing zombie stories since 2009, but have only recently published them. I have one more in the series to write, and the currently finished book and the one to be written to release. I’ve enjoyed writing the zombie stories, and I appreciate all the positive feedback and encouragement that the series has received so far. It was my first adventure in writing and publishing at novel length, ...

February Report, 120 days later

Posted by:

It’s been four months since The Dying Times hit the scene, and about 23 days since The War of the Dead was released. I’m here to report on sales rankings, sales numbers, and so forth. People ask me about this all the time, and I promise, as always, to include some shiny graphs and stuff. I will include sales from all channels as of 02/25, and they shouldn’t change a huge amount until the end of the month.

The Dying Times

I’ll ...

Book Marketing and Promotion

Posted by:

I’ve been asked from time to time how to get a book out there and get it going, so I decided to make a post about it instead of telling everyone individually. I have a book marketing eBook on Amazon (for $0.99) and it’s on Smashwords (for free), so you can check it out if you want to learn some extra tips on marketing just to Amazon’s crowd. This is more of a general book marketing and promotion post to ...

Book #3 finished, going to editing

Posted by:

I’ve finished the writing part of Book #3, Prisoner and Survivor. This one details the experiences of a convicted murdered in the times of the living dead. I think fans of the series will be pleased in how it starts to tie everything together.

Time to edit and start working on the cover art. I have something special in mind for this cover, and then it’s the long, arduous process of editing and proofreading for me.

KindleProcessor, a tool from Late Nite Books

Posted by:

I have created the KindleProcessor, a tool for processing manuscripts into properly-formatted (in essence, cosmetically “pretty” and easier to read) versions.  Basically, you put in your quarter, upload the file, and it sends you a file that can be uploaded straight to Amazon’s Kindle Direct Publishing site for immediate distribution.

The project started as a simple automated macro for me to format my own Kindle eBooks, but I decided to share the tool with others who need it.  ...
